About this event

Following the powerhouse performance for the opening gala of the Cork Choral Festival in April, The Guinness Choir, East Cork Choral Society and the Cork Fleischmann Orchestra, are to recreate the stirring performance of Elgar’s Dream of Gerontius.

The Guinness Choir and East Cork Choral Society, together with Fabre as the semi-chorus and the Cork Fleischmann Symphony Orchestra, are to recreate their stirring performance of Elgar’s The Dream of Gerontius.

Under the baton of Colin Nicholls and with soloists Christopher Bowen (tenor), Sarah Luttrell (mezzo soprano), and Eoghan Desmond (bass baritone), the audience will journey from soul-wrenching deathbed moments to celestial redemption.

The Dream of Gerontius was composed by Edward Elgar in 1900. It is based on the text of an epic poem written in 1865 by Saint John Henry Newman.
