The Patriot's Inn in Kilmainham, in Dublin City, owes much of its fame to its location but is also a pleasant place to enjoy a pint.

A 10 ft sign over The Patriot's Inn door boldly states 'this old pub standeth on sacred ground surrounded by the high walls of the Royal Hospital Kilmainham, by the ancient cemetery of Bully's Acre and the dungeons of Kilmainham Gaol'. There has been an inn on this site since 1793 when the enterprising John Ward Snr felt that business would accrue to it from Kilmainham Gaol and Bully's Acre cemetery, grieving and drinking being two activities the Irish seem fond of engaging in simultaneously.

Irish stew, fish and chips, smashed burgers, bangers and mash are only some of The Patriot's Inn menu favourites. Fish is delivered daily from the local fishmonger, burgers are made with beef supplied by their local butcher and the chips are hand cut.

After a guided tour of Kilmainham Gaol visitors can unwind in The Patriot's Inn, soaking in the historical ambiance while enjoying a pint and a hearty Irish meal. The Patriot's Inn pride themselves in having friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable staff who will try and accommodate your every culinary need.

All major sporting events are shown live in the bar. There is also monthly live musical entertainment, bingo and comedy nights at The Patriot's Inn.
