About this event

‘Nonsense Songs’ sees works from some of fantasy’s greatest authors presented through song. This playful song recital will be performed by tenor Conor Prendiville and pianist Dearbhla Collins, and joined by some of Ireland’s finest singers.

Hear the words of JRR Tolkein set by Donald Swann in his cycle The Road Goes Ever On, and Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland as the text for Lehmann’s Nonsense Songs. Korngold’s Songs of the Clown draws on Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night, and Lehmann sets the darkly humorous Four Cautionary Tales and One Moral from Hilaire Belloc, the English writer who would go on to inspire children’s authors such as Roald Dahl.

Kelli-Ann Masterson, Soprano

Gemma Ní Bhriain, Mezzo Soprano

Gyula Nagy, Baritone
