Journey

Journey: a programme by Schubert, Brahms, Haydn, Berlioz, Fauré, Strauss, Brey, and Amy Beach, themed around the journey of life and journeys of travel to foreign lands.

The performers are soprano, Helen Hancock, cellist Yue Tang, of the RTÉ Concert Orchestra; and David Leigh, Organist of St Patrick’s Cathedral, Dublin, on piano.

The centrepiece of the programme will be Schubert's evocative Auf dem Strom, exploring the journey at the end of life. By contrast, Verdure Clad from Haydn's Creation, celebrates the beginning of life.

Berlioz’s La Captive and songs by Strauss and Amy Beach feature in arrangements for voice, cello and piano.Cello repertoire includes a Tango and for voice some Schubert lieder and Fauré's Mandoline.
