Why is history a flagship subject in Ireland? Why are Irish historians so well regarded? These questions and others will be discussed in the launch of a biography of one of Ireland's great academic characters

Historians, students, the author Neasa MacErlean and other people interested in literary and historical Ireland are gathering to celebrate the life and memory of one of their own, UCD's Professor Robert Dudley Edwards. An internationalist, he worked with colleagues in the US and Europe to establish historical debate as an alternative to war and conflict. Refreshments will be served and all are welcome.
