Two divorced best friends, inspired by the 1986 hit sitcom “Kate and Allie”, move their families in together to solve the problems of single motherhood. Their eldest daughter, now an Emmy-nominated producer and writer, tells their decades long story.

Summer 1986, Long Island, New York - The hit American sitcom, “Kate and Allie” is on the TV. Grace and Dorothy, two recently divorced best friends, see their own lives reflected back at them on the screen. Told from the perspective of the eldest daughter Kate, the play weaves through decades of adventures, joys, and challenges of growing up in a non-traditional family.

"Kate, Allie and the ‘86 Mets" premiered to a sold-out audience in New York last November and is set for a 25-run show at Edinburgh Fringe. Kate is an Emmy-nominated producer, executive, writer and series creator and has produced hundreds of hours of film and television for Netflix, HBO, Apple, Hulu, Disney, Nat Geo, and Amazon. She is currently living and working in Dublin.
