About this event

Join Richie Castillo and Mei Chin at a live podcast taping at the Chester Beatty, as they unpack Asian’s complicated drinking history.

From boba to tea, pressed fruit juices, beer, and wine, the history of East and Southeast Asian beverages has been rich and creative. It has been informed by a plethora of traditions, which range from Confucian to Catholic, and also by the fact that in many countries, fresh water has been dangerous to drink.

Castillo, chef/owner of Bahay is this year’s Dublin Lunar New Year ambassador. Chin, is last year’s ambassador, writer, and founder of the award-winning podcast Spice Bags. Castillo, who is Filipino Irish, and Chin, who is American born Chinese, will also dish on what they and their families drink in the New Year.

Free, booking required.
