This year, Dublin presents the opportunity to really spread the cheer with a seasonal selection of melodic activities. Here are our top picks for making it a musical Christmas.

Love Actually Live Concert at Bord Gáis Energy Theatre

Date: 4 December 2019
Positioned in Dublin’s Docklands, the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre is Ireland's largest fixed-seat theatre. This December, it will see the return of Love Actually – one of the world’s favourite rom-coms/festive flicks combined. Originally released in 2003, Love Actually was directed by Richard Curtis and portrays intermingling tales about love (and the lack thereof) at Christmas time.
However, this is no normal showing; while the festive film is projected on the big screen, a full orchestra performing Craig Armstrong’s festive score will accompany it live.

Guinness Choir Christmas Concert with Special Guest Mary Coughlan

Established in 1951 by music enthusiast Victor Leeson, The Guinness Choir is one of the city’s best-loved choral groups. Under the guidance of their current musical director, David Milne, the choir performs a repertoire that stretches from Renaissance to contemporary. 
The group will hold their yearly Christmas Concert in St. Patrick's Cathedral, singing international carols including renditions of French, Russian and Spanish songs. Special guest Mary Coughlan will also appear for a festive performance.

Tim Burton's Nightmare Before Christmas Live in Concert

Date: 8 December 2019
Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas is a story about the clash of two holidays, Halloween and Christmas. It tells of Jack Skellington, a cherished Pumpkin King, as he goes on a misadventure in an attempt to kidnap Santa Claus.
The film will come alive in the 3Arena this Christmas as part of the movie’s 25th anniversary celebrations. Alongside the RTÉ Concert Orchestra, some of the original cast including Danny Elfman (Jack Skellington), Catherine O'Hara (Sally) and Ken Page (Oogie Boogie) will also perform in their roles.

New Dublin Voices presents: Carols for Christmas 2019

The New Dublin Voices, an award-winning chamber choir, is comprised of singers from various backgrounds with plenty of musical experience. Founded in 2005 by conductor Bernie Sherlock, the choir’s pledge is to bring choral music to new audiences.
As part of their annual tradition, they’ll return to Christ Church Cathedral this December to perform a selection of carols – old, new and updated. Built in the 11th century, the Cathedral’s impressive architecture and soaring ceilings provide a stunning backdrop for their annual Christmas event.

Noël – Mornington Singers Lunchtime Christmas Concert

Date: 14 December 2019
The Mornington Singers are a mixed-voice chamber choir based in Dublin and conducted by Orla Flanagan. This special lunchtime concert will take place at the charming St Ann's Church, where the group will perform a stunning selection of carols.
They were named Ireland’s Choir of the Year 2019 at the 65th Cork International Choral Festival, so this is guaranteed to be an event not to miss.

2fm Xmas Ball 2019

Date: 21 December 2019
The 2FM Xmas Ball in aid of the ISPCC is back. It returns to the 3Arena this December – last year’s event raised almost €500,000.
The huge Christmas Ball sees several performances throughout the night including Picture This and the RTÉ Concert Orchestra. Guests will get to enjoy a night of festive music while supporting a very worthy Irish charity.
