Greg Murphy Trio

His early musical experiences in Chicago included work with Lightning Flash Thunder Roar, the University of Illinois at Chicago Big Band, and the Northern Illinois University Big Band.

After moving to New York City in 1987, Murphy began a long collaboration with drummer Rashied Ali, touring and recording internationally until 2009, and has since performed worldwide—with his trio and other projects—across the U.S., Europe, and Asia, collaborating with artists including Ornette Coleman, Carlos Santana, and Archie Shepp, and releasing eight albums as a leader.
