Philip Glass, an icon of contemporary music and one of the great composers of the 20th century, will take up a residency at the National Concert Hall in October 2019.

As a part of this residency, Glass and his Ensemble will perform two concerts of works from his prolific career as a composer and performer.

Koyaanistqatsi: Life Out Of Balance, to give it its full title, is an experimental film made by the American director Godfrey Reggio and released in 1982. The film consists of numerous lengthy time-lapse photography sequences depicting the difficult relationships between humans, nature, and technology.

The film does not feature dialogue or text, but is instead accompanied by a truly remarkable score composed by the Philip Glass and performed by his Ensemble. At this concert, The Philip Glass Ensemble will perform the soundtrack for Koyaanisqatsi to accompany a screening of this modern classic.

This will be a feast for the senses that fans of cinema and music cannot afford to miss.
