Theatre, Stage & Film

THISISPOPBABY’s spectacular, multi-faceted theatrical presentation Where We Live takes over The Complex in Smithfield for two weeks around St Patrick’s Festival. As part of Where We Live, THISISPOPBABY will host some plays that are works-in-progress by Irish artists working around the theme of home.

One such play is Not A Funny Word. Written and performed by the actor, comedian, and activist Tara Flynn, Not A Funny Word is about abortion, and the Irish women who have to travel to England in order to obtain one. Not A Funny Word delves into Flynn’s own experiences of making that journey, but also features songs from composer Alma Kelliher.

The topic is particularly pertinent for 2018, and Not A Funny Word will be personal and brave contribution to the national conversation from Flynn.
