Longines FEI Jumping Nations Cup of Ireland at the Stena Line Dublin Horse Show

Throughout the five days the extensive RDS grounds will host some of the best horses in the world, as well as the best in Ireland. It is, after all, considered one of the best equestrian shows in the world. All in the heart of Dublin city.

133 competitions will take place during the 146th Show, including Friday’s famous Longines FEI Jumping Nations Cup of Ireland. Regarded as one of the most prestigious annual show jumping competitions in the world, the competition for the Aga Khan Trophy attracts some of the best international horse and rider combinations from around the globe. And this year further prestige is added to the week, with a significant increase in the prize fund for the big money competition of the week: Sunday’s Longines International Grand Prix of Dublin. And don’t forget the big red wall of the Land Rover Puissance on Saturday which is always a crowd favourite.

What’s in a name? Ladies day at the RDS, for instance, conjures up stylish dresses, eye-catching hats and chic outfits. Thanks to Dundrum Town Centre best dressed competition and their €10,000 spending voucher, it is all those things and much more. Including brilliant fun!
But this year is extra special, because 100 years ago the first ever Ladies Day took place. In 1919, women were first given the opportunity to compete at the Show and have been ever present competitors since. Ladies Day can be about the style and fashion stakes, but it is so-named after an important event 100 years ago that ultimately helped show jumping becoming one of the most egalitarian sports in the world today.

The Stena Line Dublin Horse Show remains one of the best social occasions of the summer. With bars, restaurants and eateries scattered throughout the grounds it is a great place to meet up and enjoy the craic of this unique event.

The fun isn’t just restricted to adults, there is a designated area for children with pony rides, musical entertainment and face-painting, as well as roving entertainment to be found around the grounds.

Relationships have an important place at the Horse Show. Relationships with animals that is. This year the Stena Line Dublin Horse Show will host speakers to share stories about how relationships between people and their horses, and other animals, can be a really positive influence in life. Find out how having a pet or other animal can make a positive difference to your mental wellbeing. Or just come along and enjoy petting them!

Since 1864 the Show has been creating summer memories; 2019 will be no exception. Make some of your own between Wednesday August 7 and Sunday August 11 at the unique Longines FEI Jumping Nations Cuptm of Ireland at the Stena Line Dublin Horse Show.
