Béal, An Evening of Poetry and Traditional Irish Music

Béal is a night that combines poetry and traditional Irish music and takes place in The Ireland House as a part of the MusicTown Festival. The Ireland House is a Victorian House that was once a childhood home for Padraig Pearse himself.

Poetry and traditional music have long gone hand-in-hand in Irish culture, with the likes of Luke Kelly and Patrick Kavanagh’s shared contributions to Raglan Road springing to mind.

Béal will be curated and hosted by writer Stephen James Smith, known for his work My Ireland, along with musician Macdara Yeates. The night will feature poetry from Felispeaks and John Cummins, as well as tunes Inni-K, Méabh Meir from Landless, and Eoghan Ó Ceannabháin from Jiggy – as well as contributions from the hosts themselves.

It’s a lineup packed full of talent that is certain to make for special occasion in this historical location.
