Amanda Dunsmore Keeper

Keeper is a major new exhibition by Clare-based artist Amanda Dunsmore that forms part of Dublin City Gallery The Hugh Lane’s 2018 programme.

Dunsmore’s practice is based on a series of extensive projects that explore the boundaries of portraiture using social, political, and historical contexts. Previous works, such as Plan, have examined the preservation of Weimar-era Germany.

Keeper is a long-term project of Dunsmore which concerns Northern Ireland, the Peace Process, and the 20th anniversary of the Good Friday Agreement.

Utilising a variety of media, including sound, video, photography, and installations, Dunsmore’s work examines the characters at the heart of this crucial time on the island of Ireland – John Hume and David Trimble in particular feature – as well as the societal transformations that occurred as a result of the agreement.
