12 Points Festival Day 3

12 Points Festival is a glimpse into the most exciting sounds coming from all around Europe in the fields of jazz and improvised music.

The festival alternates between Dublin and different European venue each September, with the 2018 edition set to blow the roof off The Sugar Club with 12 amazing acts over four nights

The act representing Ireland at the 2018 edition of 12 Points is Éna Brennan (pictured), who performs under the stage name Dowry. She takes the solo violin and transforms that simple sound into something otherworldly, weaving in influences from contemporary composition, traditional folk, and pop music to create a rich, searching sonic experience using looping and multiple effects.

The Elliot Galvin Trio hail from London, where pianist Galvin is considered one of the most inventive instrumentalists around. This is no ordinary piano trio, as the performers make use of cassette loops, toy instruments, and electronics in an effort to tear down the expectations of the genre.

Finally, Container Doxa from Ljubljana in Slovenia is an audio-visual ensemble that mixes club culture with free improvisation and the avant-garde to create their own unique artistic language.
