The Gaelic Athletic Association (G.A.A.) was formed in 1884, primarily to promote the playing of Irish games, but also to support the Irish Language and other aspects of Irish culture.

GAA Clubs exist in virtually every parish and town and the G.A.A. is Ireland's largest sporting organisation with an estimated membership of 750,000. Every summer the All Ireland championships in Hurling and Football capture the attention of the Irish public and attendances in excess of 60,00 are commonplace at the Association's Headquarters in Croke Park, Dublin.

The GAA Museum, situated under the Cusack Stand in Croke Park, was established to commemorate, recognise and celebrate the GAA's enormous contribution to Irish sporting, cultural and social life since its foundation in 1884. Interactive and touch-screen technology help bring to life the unique moments, players and games from the past up to the present day. The museum is open daily throughout the year.
