See & Do

  • Vermeer and the Masters of Genre Painting

EXHIBITIONS

In this exhibition, a collaboration with the Musée de Louvre and the National Gallery of Art, Washington, you can see work by Johannes Vermeer and his fellow Dutch Masters.

Johannes Vermeer is best known for his portrait of the Girl With the Pearl Earring, which inspired a film of the same title starring Scarlett Johansson. Born into the business of art, he decided to live life on the more creative side and became a painter, joining the guild while quickly winning commissions thanks to his talent.

The work you will see at Vermeer and the Masters of Genre Painting is nothing short of sublime. See Vermeer's exemplary use of light and pigments in his most awe-inspiring paintings alongside other masters of the genre like Jan Steen, Pieter de Hooch and Gabriel Metsu at the National Gallery of Ireland, fresh from the Louvre.

Art lovers, beware... you're going to fall for Vermeer all over again.
