Readings & Lectures

Part of Dublin book shop Books Upstairs’ monthly poetry club this autumn, join poets Tim Cunningham, Rody Gorman, Teresa Lally and Michelle O’Sullivan on October 2nd.

Poems Upstairs is Poetry Ireland’s monthly poetry club offering Dublin’s poetry and culture fans a convivial place to enjoy great poetry and this month is no exception with four fantastic poets performing.

The Kavanagh Trust exists to recognise and assist Irish poets who have published work of merit and to help them to concentrate on writing. Four poets whose work has earned the Patrick and Katherine Kavanagh Fellowship, in 2013 and 2014, will read at this Poems Upstairs event.

The poet Adrian Mitchell described Tim Cunningham’s poems as being “as various and fascinating as the animals in Noah's Ark”. Born in Limerick, Tim now lives in Essex, and has published five collections, the most recent of which is Almost Memories.

Rody Gorman’s poetry is recognised for its concise energy and power. Born in Dublin, he now lives in the Isle of Sky and writes in English, Irish and Scottish Gaelic. His work Chernilo, selected Irish and Scottish Gaelic poems, was published in 2006.

Teresa Lally is from Mayo and now lives in Inchicore. She published her first collection, Doll, in 2011. Michelle O’Sullivan’s poetry has been praised for its ability to conjure for its readers enchanting entanglements of water and light.
