  • Irish Gin and Tonic Festival

Free Events

The Irish Gin and Tonic Festival is determined that as many people up and down the country get to taste the very best in Irish artisan spirit making via the humble gin and tonic.

The gin and tonic was once the drink of choice for unsavoury types in Charles Dickens' London, but in recent years it has become the chic drink of choice - move over, cosmopolitan.

This festival invites bars, restaurants and venues all over Ireland to show off some of the nation's most exciting gins and tonics, in order to support local industry.

You'll have the chance to sample some exemplary gins, like Bertha's Revenge, a sweet and milky gin named for Bertha, the heifer who gave it her name. Gunpowder gin from a shed in Drumshanbo will, quite honestly, set off fireworks on your palate. Of course, there will be just as much attention paid to the tonic - whether you're an alcohol drinker or not, Poacher's Tonic from cocktail maestro Oisin Davis has all the refined and subtle taste with none of the alcohol percentage.

Head to any of the many bars supporting the Irish Gin and Tonic festival and ask for anything but your usual.
