The Irish Georgian Society is a membership organisation whose purpose is to promote awareness and the protection of Ireland's architectural heritage and decorative arts. These aims are achieved through the activities of its membership and through its conservation and education programmes.

The Irish Georgian Society's extensive events programme is open to all members with activities including outings, lectures, conferences, architectural tours and social events. Day tours and weekend trips specialise in giving access to notable buildings, interiors and gardens not usually open to the public and run throughout Ireland and abroad.

Membership also provides free or concessionary access to historic houses and properties throughout Ireland and a list of these is available on their website. Visitors to Ireland may want to join the Society for this reason, and to support their work.

The Society resides in the City Assembly House on Dublin’s South William Street, built between 1766 and 1771. It stood as the first purpose-built public art gallery in either Britain and Ireland and possibly in Europe at the time.

The Gift Shop contains lovely books, journals and gift items that can be seen during opening hours or ordered online.
