See & Do

  • Dalkey Bloomsday Festival

Begin your Joycean celebrations on the eve of Bloomsday at Dalkey Castle & Heritage Centre where a troupe of actors will await your arrival, ready to perform some of Joyce’s most memorable literary extracts. Whether Ulysses, Dubliners, A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man or maybe one of Joyce’s lesser known works is your favourite, expect to see the most enlightening scenes from his novels brought to life.

With baritone Simon Morgan and soprano Donna Malone on-hand to perform songs that James Joyce himself sang or featured in his novels, you’ll feel as though you’ve been transported right back to Joycean Dublin.

On Bloomsday itself, you can enjoy a very special re-enactment of The Nestor Episode from Ulysses, featuring Headmaster Deasy and Stephen Dedalus, while a Joycean tour follows to uncover the very special connections between James Joyce and the stunning seaside town of Dalkey.
