Rusalka

Lyric Opera returns to the Gaiety Theatre this Autumn with a Dublin Premier –Rusalka by Antonín Dvorák – on September 18th, 20th & 21st 2013. Based on a number of familiar fairy stories, from Hans Christian Andersen’s The Little Mermaid to the French tale of Undine, Rusalka is truly a magical fairytale opera. This exciting new production from Lyric Opera features an incredible International cast of artists – accompanied for the first time in Dublin by the Wexford Festival Orchestra, andBallet Ireland. It is supported by the Arts Council of Ireland.

Natasha Jouhl sings Rusalka, fresh from her success in the role at Glyndebourne last winter. She is supported by much heralded American tenor Jeffrey Gwaltney, exciting young Romanian soprano Gabrielle Istoc, internationally acclaimed Welsh bass Richard Wiegold, and our own Imelda Drumm singing the witch Jezibaba. Irish sopranos Norah King, Lynsey Curtin and Raphaela Mangan make up the trio of water sprites. Once again, the Lyric Opera Chorus comprises largely of Irish students from the Royal Irish Academy of Music and the DIT Conservatory of Music & Drama – the next generation of opera singers at the first stage of their careers.

Tickets are priced at €40.00 - €75..00
