Visit the National Library of Ireland this Summer.

Have you ever been interested in researching your roots, but unsure of where to start? As part of our contribution to The Gathering, we are hosting a series of lunchtime lectures on different aspects of Irish family history research in July and August 2013. Lectures will take place in the Seminar Room at 1pm and will last approximately 30 minutes Attendance is Free, no booking required just drop in on the day.

On Tuesday 20 August  join Genealogist Máire MacConghail, for a talk on

Roman Catholic parish registers: a vital 19th century source.

Máire Mac Conghail, currently vice-president of the Association of Professional Genealogists in Ireland, is a genealogist and historical researcher for many years. She also tutors adult education classes in South County Dublin. She co-authored, with her colleague Paul Gorry Tracing Irish Ancestors (HarperCollins 1997). Máire is a member of the Irish Manuscripts Commission, the National Archives Advisory Council and is a fellow and Council  member of the Irish Genealogical Research Society.
