On Wednesday 6th June Dublin will become the only country outside or Greece and the UK to host the Olympic Flame. More than 40 torch bearers will carry the Olympic flame through the streets of Dublin when it tours the only city outside the UK.

41 torch bearers will take part in a six hour dash that will include a cross border ceremony, a civic event, a run on the Skyline in Croke Park and a relay around the capital. 

President Michael D.Higgins will greet the first torch bearer in Howth. The convoy, which will include a miner's lantern holding the original Olympic flame from Olympic,Greece, will then move on to Croke Park before the first leg of the city relay starts.

The torch will pass several historc sites including the Garden of Remembrance, GPO, Custom House, St. Patrick's Cathedral, Christchurch Cathedral, before arriving at St. Stephen's Green and going back to the North.

Ireland’s most famous Olympian, 77-year-old runner Ronnie Delany, 71-year-old paralympian Anne Ebbs, rugby star Shane Horgan, former international footballer Paul McGrath, boxer Kenneth Egan, suicide prevention worker Joan Freeman and John Collins, who will represent the Traveller community, and Jedward will be among the proud members of the relay team. Those mentioned above are just a handful of the Olympic Tourch Bearers taking part in the relay.

Journey Starts 9.10am at Croke Park Stadium

You can catch a glimpse of The Olympic Torch Relay as it commences from Croke Park at 9.10am making its way down to the North Circular Road before reaching Mountjoy Square, Gardiner Street, Grenville Lane, Parnell Square East and then making its way down to The Garden of Remembrance. The relay will then weave its way around O'Connell Street passing through Cathal Brugha Street and Malborough Street before heading up Eden Quay towards Custom House and Sherriff Street. 10.30am The Olympic Torch Relay will pass over The Samuel Beckett Bridge past The Bord Gais Energy Theatre and down Pearse Street. The Torch will now grace the south of the city by passing through areas such as Merrion Square, Baggot Street, Fitzwilliam Square, Leeson Street, Grand Parade, Rathmines and The South Circular Road. The Relay will pass some of Dublin's top attractions such as Christ Church Cathedral, City Hall, Grafton Street, St. Stephen's Green and our Government Buildings before The Relay travels towards the M50 past Sir John Rogersons Quay and East Wall.

Journey Ends 12.20pm- M50 onto M1 Toll Gates.
