Aviva Stadium will host the 86th playing of the Navy - Notre Dame game on Sept. 1, 2012. The two colleges previously played their fixture in Ireland in 1996 when Notre Dame triumphed 54-27 in Croke Park. The Navy-Notre Dame rivalry is the longest continuous intersectional rivalry in college football with the two schools having met every year since 1927.
This new stadium is located in a scenic residential area just outside of Dublin city center, allowing travelers staying in nearby hotels the opportunity to walk to the game. The intimate Aviva Stadium is also much smaller than the U.S. stadiums the schools typically play at – offering an experience unlike any other state-side.
