Made in Dublin, a weeklong season of new dance performances and films from Monday January 28 to Saturday February 2, kick-starts Dance Ireland’s 2013 anniversary year programme Dance Ireland 21.
Taking place mainly at Project Arts Centre in Dublin, Made in Dublin, the inaugural event in Dance Ireland’s 21st anniversary year, is a special season of new dance performances, all of which were created or developed by national and international artists in DanceHouse over the past six years.
With the spotlight firmly on the upcoming generation of European dance makers, Made in Dublin is a week of full-length dance shows, extracts and “first looks”, by artists from nine European countries, including Ireland. As well as the live performances, there is a series of free dance film screenings nightly on Meeting House Square (6pm to 10pm), and daytime film, talks and special events at DanceHouse.
Speaking about Made in Dublin, Dance Ireland Chief Executive Paul Johnson said “this is a unique opportunity to see a vibrant selection of artists from across the European Union alongside Ireland’s most exciting dance artists. As well as being the inaugural event of our 21st anniversary programme, we’re also very proud that this Europe-wide programme is one of the first events of Ireland’s 2013 EU Presidency cultural programme.”
Tickets for Made in Dublin performances can be purchased at Project Arts Centre, 39 East Essex Street, Temple Bar, Dublin 2.
