I am the Band - Pat Shortt

PAT SHORTT
‘I am the Band’ Live at Vicar Street,

Pat Shortt announces dates for the tour of his hit one man show I am the Band.

Fresh from his recent success in London’s West End, starring alongside Daniel Radcliffe in Martin McDonagh’s The Cripple of Inishmaan as Jonnypateenmike, Pat Shortt has just announced two dates at Vicar street this November as part of his tour of his hit one-man show I am the Band.

As Jonnypateenmike Pat wowed audiences and was described by critics as ‘superb’  ‘tremendous’ & ‘gloriously ghastly’, with his character ‘played with obnoxious glee by Pat Shortt.’

"Pat Shortt is a joy as JohnnyPateenMike, his eyes glistening at the scent of a scandal, and the scenes between him and his baleful old mammy (June Watson) are wickedly funny." Sarah Hemming, The Financial Times

"Pat Shortt is tremendous as Johnnypateenmike" Libby Purves, The Times

Now Pat Shortt is back with a different, but no less gleeful character, with the Irish tour of his hit one-man comedy show charting the life of solo lounge singer Dixie Walsh.
Pat Shortt’s hilarious one-man comedy show, I Am The Band charts the story of the life and career of Dixie Walsh, the solo lounge musician known to countless thousands as the man who sang the perennially popular The Jumbo Breakfast Roll and Where Did My Money Go.

One of Ireland’s best-loved comedians, Pat Shortt has appeared in character as Dixie Walsh with one of the country’s biggest selling number one singles ever, but until last year much-loved Dixie had only appeared in a minor supporting role in two of Pat’s sell-out shows, You Won’t Get Away With That Here and The Hall. Now it’s Dixie’s time to shine, when he takes centre stage to tell his life story and share his unique style of music with you in Pat’s show I Am The Band.

With dates just announced, I Am The Band is a tribute night to Dixie where all his peers and friends (the audience) come to celebrate his career. Over the course of the night Dixie reminisces about the path his career has taken and the struggles he has had to endure to get to the top of his game.

Pat Shortt’s famously quirky interpretation of rural Irish characters brings to life Dixie’s mother, his teacher and other locals who queue up to recall their fascinatingly bizarre memories of Dixie and his music.

I Am The Band is a very funny look at life on the back roads between Ireland’s dance halls, and a tribute to one of this country’s true music legends – Dixie Walsh.
