“We’ll be featuring our Christmas album Drive the Cold Winter Away,” says the band’s concertina, fiddle and mandolin player Charles O’Connor. “We never played the album on stage at the time and people have been asking us ever since to play tracks like The Snow That Melts The Soonest and When a Man’s in Love. And since we wanted to play a couple of gigs this Christmas, giving “Drive” a runout seemed like a nice idea. Only thing is, I’m going to need three pairs of arms to play it.”
Keyboard player and flautist Jim Lockhart is equally enthused. “Drive The Cold Winter Away has a uniquely Irish Christmassy feel to it and it’s always been one of my favourite Horslips albums. So I’m really looking forward to playing these tracks live, mostly for the first time. I hope it’s snowing!”
As well as playing Drive the Cold Winter Away and excerpts from The Tain and The Book Of Invasions, the band is set to spring a few surprises.
‘It’s a party” says bass player Barry Devlin. ‘We want to try out a few party tricks to get everybody in the mood’.
