Get Back - The Story of the Beatles

Celebrate 50 years since the Beatles exploded as 'Get Back: The Story of The Beatles', the hugely successful show about the fab four, returns to Dublin's Olympia Theatre for one night only on Saturday 22nd June.

Imagine walking down the stairs to the Cavern Club in Liverpool to watch a four-piece band on the cusp of greatness. What would it have been like to experience the excitement of being among the 74 million viewers who watched the Fab Four on the Ed Sullivan Show in 1964? Or picture yourself in 1967 walking home with your copy of Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, putting the needle to the record and being met with a totally new sound.

Get Back: The Story of The Beatles sets out to put you in those crucial moments in the Beatles’ musical journey.

The Beatles defined a generation with their sound, their look and their lifestyle. All these elements informed their musical development. Today their music is as important as ever with every band namechecking the Liverpool combo as an inspiration.

Songs that we have all grown up with have become modern classical music with Lennon & McCartney often names alongside the great composers. And that’s before you consider the contributions of Harrison and Starr as well as the likes of their producer George Martin and their manager Brian Epstein.

The show charts the most important moments in the Beatles’ career to show how their music often followed the personal journey of the band. From the raw live concerts to confident early recordings, on through global recognition, their spiritual searching, and on to dealing with the loss of their manager, the Beatles sound evolved constantly without losing relevance.

We are not trying to give the whole story of The Beatles – if you want that then start with the Beatles’ own Anthology and then work through the myriad of excellent books written on their life and recordings. This show immerses the audience in each song, allowing an interaction with moments long past in a format that looks and sounds authentic.

When you listen to this abridged collection of songs that spanned just a seven year period, from 1963 to 1970, it is impossible not to be reminded just how unique this band were. It is also a reminder of how unlikely it is that there will ever be another band with such an influence on the direction of pop and rock music.
