Emigration Road a 'Play for Voices'

Mon 22 July at 1.05pm

Event Supported by Poetry Ireland.

Poetry Ireland in association with National Library of Ireland and Curlew Theatre Company presents Emigration Road a 'Play for Voices'.

Emigration Road is one of five  “Plays for Voices” devised written and directed by Eamon Grennan from New York and performed by Curlew Theatre Company from Galway.

Emigration Road, explores a number of the iconic elements in the great wave of emigration from Ireland to the United States such as ‘The American Wake’ , ‘The Voyage Across the Atlantic’, ‘The Arrival in America’, ‘The Homesickness’ . It also looks at emmigration as  an aspect of contemporary Irish life.

The performance is followed by audience discussion with the performers about the piece and feelings and memories of emigration.

Free. No booking required. Just pop in on the day.

This is one of many cultural and literary events inspired by our Summer Exhibition Homecoming: JFK in Ireland. To learn more about the JFK exhibition see our website www.nli.ie

Many of our events  at the NLI are free. If you would like this to continue, you can support our Events Programme by making a donation. Donation boxes are located throughout the NLI buildings.
