Dublin Theatre Festival has been a major cultural and civic event in the city's calendar since 1957. The Festival is a forum for participation, celebration and togetherness. Dublin is a wonderful place, rich in songs and stories, in culture and history. It is this wealth that continues to inspire our artists and to encourage our citizens.
The Festival stages major international theatre of scale, and has hosted productions by the world's most highly regarded artists, while also premiering work by the giants of Irish theatre.
Asides from hundreds of main-stage productions, it presents a multitude of special events which includes master classes from the world's top practitioners, artist development programmes, film screenings, symposiums, schools workshops and panel discussions.
In 2012, the Festival presented 561 performances in 21 venues and set Dublin city ablaze with the most invigorating exciting theatre in the world.
