Creative Showcase in Guinness Storehouse
GUINNESS STOREHOUSE TO TRANSFORM INTO A CREATIVE HUB ON ARTHUR'S DAYSHOWCASING IRELAND’S TALENT AND CREATIVITYKODALINE PERFORMANCE, DESIGN INSTALLATIONS AND FOOD EXTRAVAGANZA
The Home of Guinness will be transformed into a creative hub, curated by Irish award-winning creative team BLOCK T incorporating impromptu Jazz performances, design, installations and carnival sets.
500 lucky Golden Ticket holders will also be treated to an exclusive midday performance by Irish headliner act Kodaline ahead of their surprise gig in a pub that evening.
Speaking today Stephen O’Kelly Marketing Director, Guinness said “This year the ‘Home of Guinness’ will be transformed into a vibrant, creative hub on Arthur's Day. Visitors will be treated to interactive design installations, culinary surprises and music performances across all seven stories. With thousands of people expected to visit throughout the day, we wanted to provide a massive stage to celebrate Irish talent and creativity.”
The original lease, signed by Arthur Guinness, will take centre stage on the ground floor. Calligraphers will also be on hand allowing visitors to create their own ‘Arthuresque’ signature and take home a replica of the 9,000 year lease.
There will be an interactive 3D carnival setting of St. Stephen’s Green, transporting visitors back to 1880 when Sir Arthur Edward Guinness gifted the park to the city of Dublin.
BLOCK T will also recreate an old iconic Guinness Jazz scene in Arthur’s Bar, which will host a number of Irish jazz performances throughout the day, encapsulating the atmosphere from the Guinness Cork Jazz festival, one of Europe’s leading cultural festivals.
As well as the immersive installations across multiple floors, the fifth floor will pay homage to the best of Irish food produce, with a bespoke Arthur’s Day menu devised by the culinary team at Guinness Storehouse, led by Executive Chef Justin O’Connor.
Creative collective, Queens of Neon, will also wow the crowds with a wondrous food experience, surprising guests with taste sensations over the course of Arthur’s Day, in unsuspecting areas of the seven-story building. A selection of the 2013 Arthur Guinness Project applicants and winners will also be showcased at the Storehouse in a video show reel throughout the building.
GUINNESS will also be collaborating with publicans and Arthur Guinness Project applicants to transform some local pubs into creative hubs around the island of Ireland. Hogan’s Bar in Dublin will host a lunchtime SurfingFitYoga class offering surf-inspired, yoga and fitness workouts.
The Roaring Donkey in Cobh will exhibit photography from the ‘Imageing in Cobh’ project. In Sligo, The Strand Bar will host a pop-up shop, giving locals the chance to pick up exclusive, Irish-made designs by Pretty Owls. And The Coachman, Tipperary have joined up with ‘Tipperary Food Producers Network’, to create a unique, long table dinner, cooking and showcasing the produce of local suppliers.
Golden Tickets for the exclusive Kodaline performance at midday in Guinness Storehouse will be rewarded to Guinness fans all over Ireland, via Guinness Social Media, the Guinness Storehouse loyalty programme and 2FM from Monday 16th September.
Guinness Storehouse will open from 9.30am until 6pm on Arthur’s Day and standard entrance rates apply to all non Golden Ticket holders.
