Autumn Sounds at Farmleigh
Enjoy a relaxing evening of renowned classical music in the prestigious Farmleigh Ballroom with a programme of The Chamber Music of Robert Schumann on 5th September, and Romantic Russian Music on 19th September. Farmleigh is located in Castleknock, Dublin 15.
One of the country’s foremost classical partnerships Duo Chagall - Gillian Williams, violin, and Arun Rao, cello, will delight audiences with two evenings of incredible musicality.
The first concert showcases the music of German romantic Robert Schumann, and starts with the rarely heard Phantasy Pieces for piano trio from 1840. The concert will also feature his lauded Piano Quintet where, for the very first time in Farmleigh, the Autumn Sounds series will host an array of guest musicians. Pianist Caterina Lemoni also performs on this evening.
The second evening continues this exploration of European salon music with Duo Chagall presenting some of the best music written for solo strings by romantic heavyweights Tchaikovsky and Rachmaninoff. The Trio Pathetique written originally for clarinet, bassoon and piano by Russian musical pioneer Mikhail Glinka, the lovely Potpourri for Strings duet by Reinhold Glière; and Rimsky-Korsakov’s lively favourite Flight of the Bumblebee will also feature. Pianist Edward Holly accompanies on this evening.
Tickets are free but subject to application. Two tickets are permitted per applicant.
