The Indian Film Festival of Ireland is an annual gathering of people from the Indian film industry in Ireland. The festival shows the best of latest and old classical Indian cinema, and creates an opportunity for the local Irish creative people to collaborate, and learn about the world's largest film producing nation. The festival has various strands, such as Director in Focus with opening and closing film, Star in Retrospective, Debut director.
It has all the rich tapestry of and international film festival, and is non-profit making, run by a small team of dedicated volunteers and is presented by Bollywood Ireland Ltd, a film and Television production and distribution company own by Siraj Zaidi, an actor from India and trained at the London Academy of Dramatic Arts. Industry networking and masterclasses focus on the new dimensions and parameters in film making and thinking outside the box of EU / USA film industry. The concepts of hybrid and cross over films with Indian and Irish diaspora story and theme are highly encourage and new creative ways of producing films for the global international market is also encourage.
The gala award ceremony is high-end glamorous dinner evening welcoming the Indian summer in Ireland, and all this for an educational charitable cause in India. Through this fundraising event children orphanage and primary education schools are supported.
