Cafe Mao was established in 1997 and continues to prepare and serve fresh Asian fusion foods at attractive prices.
Now named Mao Restaurant, the varied menu includes a mix of Chinese, Indian, Japanese and Thai foods, non-region-specific. The menu at Mao also includes dishes for those requiring special dietary ingredients in addition to a range of dishes to suit vegetarians.
The restaurant is bright and airy, attracting an eclectic clientele, across the spectrum. The keynote is relaxed and informal dining.
Mao Restaurant has a good selection of Asian beers in addition to cider, cocktails, some wines and a selection of smoothies.
Amongst the established favourite house dishes are chilli squid, Nasi Goreng and Thai green curry.
