Optimus Awards in Quality and Efficiency 2008

Awards for Service Excellence were presented to the four Dublin Tourism Visitor Centres,(Suffolk St., O’ Connell St., Dublin Airport and Dun Laoighaire), and two Tourism Visitor Attractions, (Malahide Castle and the Writers Museum).

The Optimus programme, developed by Fáilte Ireland, aims to help tourism establishments – including hotels, visitor services and restaurants - achieve excellence in every aspect of their business by providing a practical approach to improving business and customer service.

Optimus is a national quality standard and business improvement tool for the Irish tourism industry. The multi-tiered programme was designed to help businesses understand their performance and assist them in making continuous improvement. 

The Optimus programme structure comprises three core levels and a further two tiers of development, enabling businesses to progress through a gradual programme of improvement.

The Service Excellence programme, leading to the Service Excellence Award, focuses on the creation and development of a service excellence culture that is specific to the hospitality industry.

Digital Media Awards  -  'Best Independent Podcast 2008'

Dublin Tourism are delighted to announce that we have won the prize for "Best Independent Podcast" at the prestigeous Digital Media Awards ceremony in Dublin on February 7th 2008. The very popular Dublin Tourism iWalks are free podcast audio guides to Dublin. These convenient guides tell the story of Dublin accross eleven themes covering many fascinating aspects of the city. You can download the guides and use them as free walking tour guides to the city, or you can just listen to them to discover the fascinating story of Dublin.

Dublin Tourism plans to add more iWalks to the series in the coming year.

Marketing Manager Ciara Sugrue accepts the Golden Spider Award on behalf of Dublin TourismDublin Tourism was delighted to accept the Eircom Golden Spider Award for the category of Best Travel, Tourism & Hospitality Website. The award was presented to marketing manager Ciara Sugrue at an awards ceremony in Dublin's Burlington Hotel on November 22nd, 2007. The Golden Spider Awards are Irelands most prestigous Internet awards and winning the 2007 award is a testiment to the quality, innovation and dedication of Dublin Tourism to providing our customers with the best possible online service.

Judges were particularly impressed with the way that Visitdublin.com has proved to be a successful tool in promoting the dublin region to a wide global audience. Dublin Tourism's new innovative strategy to introduce the use of multimedia and mp3 audio guides shows the constant necessity to remain focused on the digital audience.

Dublin Tourism Wins Best Commercial State Body Award at the 2007 E-Government Awards

Dublin Tourism was delighted to accept the Best Commercial State Body Award at the 2007 E-Government Awards. The prize was presented to Dublin Tourism by Tom Kitt T.D., Minister of State at the Department of the Taoiseach & Government Chief Whip, on Thursday, February 22nd at a ceremony in the Four Seasons Hotel.

The Irish Commercial State Body eGovernment Award is awarded to the organisation who have succeeded in harnessing ICT to deliver better services, information and efficiencies to its target audience (both internal and external).

Key factors in determining Dublin Tourism's success in this category include innovation, enhanced customer service, an increase in efficiencies, access to local information or resource savings, simplicity, ease of use and problem solving.

 

Dublin Tourism Wins Best Commercial State Body Award at the 2006 E-Government Awards

Dublin Tourism were delighted to accept the award for Best Commercial State Body for the visitdublin.com site at the E-Government Awards 2006. The awards were presented at a ceremony in the Four Seasons Hotel in Dublin City on Thursday 16th February 2006.

The Irish eGovernment Award for best commercial state website is awarded to that site or online service that has succeeded in clearly delivering better services, information and efficiencies to its target audience. Key factors included enhanced customer service, access to resources and information, an increase in efficiencies or resource savings, simplicity or ease of use and innovation.

This award recognises the dedication, imagination and initiative of a tightly knit, well motivated group in Dublin Tourism. It gives public recognition for the pioneering work being done by Dublin Tourism in supporting the trade.

Dublin Tourism have consistently strived to improve and develop their online services. The visitdublin.com site serves over half a million users every month and reaches consumers right around the globe. In 2006 Dublin Tourism plans to develop their online offerings further and to further explore exciting new channels for the delivery of online services to both the global consumer audience and to the local tourism industry in Dublin.

Dublin Tourism Wins Best Online Content Award at Digital Media Awards

Dublin Tourism & their web development partners Big Top Multimedia were delighted to accept the award for Best Online Content for the visitdublin.com site at the Digital Media Awards 2005. The awards were presented at a ceremony at the Burlington Hotel in Dublin City on Wednesday 2nd February 2005.

The visitdublin.com site was also a runner-up for the Best Web Site Design award.

Digital Media Intelligence (DMI) launched the first ever Digital Media Awards in Dublin in January 2003. The awards have now received endorsement from the European Digital Media Association (EDiMA) and the American Digital Media Association (DiMA), which makes the 2005 Digital Media Awards a global competition.

The awards create a platform for companies to showcase their achievements at an international level and to build on an awards system which already signifies real commercial and strategic importance to the winners. By connecting the worldwide digital media industry the Digital Media Awards aims to recognize the global digital media industry, to reward excellence, innovation and talent and to identify global industry standards.
