Bewley's began in 1835 when Charles Bewley landed 2000 chests of tea into Dublin, The family business expanded into coffee and finally into Coffee shops. The landmark Grafton Street cafe opened in 1927 with no expense spared on its interior. The famous Artist Harry Clarke created six wonderful stain glass windows at a cost of 60000 pounds.

Today Bewleys Grafton Street still keeps its traditions of coffee roasting and baking along with its famous breakfast. A contemporary Mediterranean menu is also available until late evening. Bewleys is open from 7.30am until 10.00pm every day for you to sample.

Beautifull setting with the pannelling, stained glass windows that take your breath away, tall ceilings with amazing chandaliers and roaring open fire. We tried Bewleys & were hooked ! For a reasonable cost the full breakfast really was full with 2 slices of bacon, sausage, egg, black & white pudding ( georgous), mushrooms, tomato and their own homemade brown bread ( to die for so good i baught several loaves to take home !). It filled us up right through to evening dinner! all served almost immediately by friendly, helpfull staff. I also had ( on another morning ) their organic porridge served with maple syrup and pecan nuts for 3.80 euros. It came in a bottomless bowl, was hot, creamy and georgous. It was smothered in pecan halves which would have cost more than the 3.80 if baught in tesco ! If you only visit one cafe'/restraunt in Dublin do yourself a favour and make it Bewleys !!!
