Each month an object from the Yeats exhibition is selected for discussion.

Admission is free, no booking is required.

In addition to the monthly lectures, each object of the month will be featured in daily tours of the Yeats exhibition.

Object of the Month: The Psaltery.

‘I have spent my life clearing out of poetry every phrase written for the eye, and bringing all back to syntax that is for the ear alone.’ In 1901, WB Yeats and actress, Florence Farr commissioned musician Arnold Dolmetsch to design and construct a musical instrument called a psaltery, to accompany the chanting of poetry. Between 1902-3, Yeats and Florence Farr gave many lecture-demonstration on speaking to the music of the psaltery.
