Opening Thursday 22 Nov 2012, 7pm
To be opened by Emily O’Reilly, Ombudsman and Information Commissioner.
Draíocht’s Galleries are open Monday to Saturday 10am-6pm
This is a major exhibition of Una Sealy ARHA’s work, her first solo show since the Molesworth Gallery in 2006, and presents a wide selection of work made since then. There will be 35 paintings, ranging from small to very large and encompassing figures in domestic interiors, streetscape, landscape and portraiture. She paints from observation and often the compositions evolve organically, with elements appearing and disappearing before the final arrangement is arrived at. The works form a kind of visual autobiography.
The exhibition will be accompanied with a full colour 64 page catalogue with an essay by Gemma Tipton, an introduction by Fingal Co. Co. Arts Officer Rory O’Byrne, and an interview with the artist.
Una is a recently elected Associate Member of the RHA, and this is her 8th solo exhibition.
She was presented with the Ireland-US Council/Irish Arts Review for Outstanding Portraiture at the RHA Annual Exhibition 2011
