“McKeague and O’Brien present THE RISING and by way of interludes World War 1”
Written and directed by Joe O’Byrne
In this new play written and directed by Joe O’Byrne, and choreographed by Breandán de Gallaí, the audience will relive the tumultuous days of the 1916 Rising through the eyes of two friendly adversaries, O’Brien, a Catholic, and Mc Keague, a Protestant. For an exhilarating, action packed 90 mins O'Brien and McKeague will tell this story in vaudeville style, with humour, song and dance, as they re-enact the Rising and events that led to it, including World War 1.
What the media said about a previous unique McKeague and O’Brien production:
"With high energy and enormous talent, psalm-spouting McKeague and roguish O'Brien create schooners, besieged cities, even the River Boyne itself out of four blue crates, a white sheet and a ladder. The Battle of the Boyne and by way of interlude The Siege of (London) Derry is not intended to deliver moral judgements or to shatter stereotypes but to tell a good story. What a performance!" The Irish Times, 1st October 2003
