The Hot House Big Band is a full 17 piece big band, comprising some of the finest jazz and professional musicians in Ireland. Led by Dublin saxophonist and clarinettist Mark Wilde, they play a regular gig every Monday night at the Mercantile Hotel on Dublin’s Dame St, enthralling their audience with their high energy and wide ranging repertoire, from Basie to the Beatles. The band is joined every week by at least two vocalists (sometimes three) guaranteeing a night filled to the brim with musical magic.
The breadth of the band’s experience is ably demonstrated by the collaborations they have engaged in over the years; these include the RTE Concert & Symphony Orchestras & Big Band, The Three Tenors (Pavarotti/Carreras/Domingo), Riverdance, Celtic Women, Westlife, The Commitments, Jerry Fish and the Mudbug Club, Radio City Music Hall New York, The Wilson Pickett Band (New York) and even Hugh Hefner’s Playboy Mansion! Individually, the members of the band have also covered the globe as a result of performance and recording duties, and this wealth of experience is evident in their mastery of big band music, where they come together as the “Hot House Big Band”.
“Probably the best band I’ve heard in the last 20 years!!”
- Buddy Greco, legendary pianist/singer and original member of Frank Sinatra’s Rat Pack
The Hot House Big Band will perform in The Mercantile Hotel every Monday (except bank holidays)
