Una McKevitt Productions and Bright Light Productions
in association with Aiken Promotions present Singlehood
“BECAUSE ANY DOPE CAN BE IN A RELATIONSHIP.”
After a sell-out run at the Dublin Fringe Festival, the show that had people queuing down the streets of Temple Bar for return tickets is coming to Vicar Street for two nights only!
Singlehood is a funny and uplifting theatre documentary exploring the art of being single. Renowned for her documentary theatre practice, Una McKevitt in collaboration with writer
David Coffey (Dan & Becs, Fade St) interviewed over 50 Singletons to bring their raw and revealing stories to the stage to hilarious and devastating effect.
With a fantastic ensemble of 8 performers including comedian Eric Lalor, Singlehood is an exclusive look at the personal triumphs and losses we all experience but seldom articulate, framed by a stomping single’s soundtrack by musical comedy duo The Guilty Folk. Singlehood plays Vicar Street on March 1st and 2nd 2013.
Singlehood’s review highlights include:
"Singlehood really shines in its sheer honesty...ridiculous, heartbreaking, hilarious..." The Irish Times
"..funny, warm and thoroughly engaging.." Irish Theatre Magazine
"Singlehood is a seriously funny, incredibly engaging and a delightfully entertaining must see..." Examiner.com
"..thoughtfully presented in a frank, truthful and engaging manner..entertaining and thought-provoking.." Journal.ie
"Honest, funny and at times a little sad, Singlehood will be enjoyed by singletons and smug marrieds alike." MetroHerald
“I am thrilled Singlehood will run in Vicar Street. It is the perfect venue for the show. In conceiving Singlehood I considered what it means to be single in a society where romantic relationships have such high status and defined rituals.
Are single people just waiting for love to find them or does being single offer it’s own, possibly richer, rewards?” – Una McKevitt
