Journeys of The Imagination
Taken From His Music For Ibsen’s Peer Gynt, the story of a boastful and vain outlaw who finds love in old age, Grieg’s Suites boast some of the most atmospheric and beautiful music ever written, from the sublime ‘Morning’ and haunting ‘Solveig’s Song’ to the fiery ‘Arabian Dance’ and vivid depiction of grotesque mountain trolls and gnomes. No less exotic is Saint-Saens’ ‘Egyptian’ Concerto, a magical voyage full of Middle Eastern scents with brilliantly descriptive piano writing for virtuoso Lilya Zilberstein. Finally Prokofiev’s Fourth Symphony provides drama and emotion aplenty in rich and relishable music.
