I am a man more sinned against than sinning.
For the first time in over 80 years the Abbey Theatre presents King Lear.
King Lear is determined to transfer power to his three daughters. He will divide his kingdom between them, giving the largest part to the daughter who loves him most.
Owen Roe stars as the monarch whose ambitious plan sets him on a relentless journey which will threaten his family, his kingdom and himself.
We are delighted to welcome back foremost theatre artist Selina Cartmell (Only an Apple, Big Love and Woman and Scarecrow) to direct Shakespeare’s epic human story. This large scale production features a cast of 21, including some of Ireland’s finest actors Lorcan Cranitch, Phelim Drew and Hugh O’Conor.
