In Handel’s Day
To celebrate George Frideric Handel and his connections to Dublin, Temple Bar Cultural Trust will host a daylong celebration to include the famous Messiah on the Street performance as well as additional free activities featuring music and history from 18th century Dublin that will appeal to all ages. On 13 April 1742, Handel's Messiah, one of the most famous musical pieces in the world, premiered on Fishamble Street in Temple Bar and each year the streets and surrounding areas are filled with the sounds from Our Lady's Choral Society as they sing excerpts from Handel's Messiah.
