Fun Family 6km Cycle

Get ready for a wheely big day out at a free family fun cycling event planned by Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council for National Bike Week 2013.

The Fun Family 6km Cycle takes place in Deansgrange Linear Park (Kill Lane, Dun Laoghaire) starting at 3.00 pm on Sunday 16th June, with fun for all the family including music by DJ Electric Eddie.

All are welcome at this free public event organised by Dun Laoghaire Sports Partnership and Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council. Places to take part in this popular annual event are limited and pre-registration is essential with details at any of the following websites www.dlrcoco.ie and www.dlrsportspartnership.ie.

Pupils from Kill O’The Grange National School helped to launch the event today with Dun Laoghaire Rathdown Travel Plan Co-ordinator Felicity Gill and Garda Barry Brennan of Dun Laoghaire Gardaí who are also supporting the event.

National Bike Week 2013 takes place from 15th - 23rd June with fun cycling events all over Dublin and nationwide. Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council is playing its part by hosting this free event in Deansgrange Linear Parkat 3 pm with sign-in from 2.15 pm on 16th June.

The cycle is for families of any age or fitness level. The 6km route starts at Deansgrange Linear Park. The entrance is just off of Kill Avenue, beside SuperValu near the main junction with Clonkeen Road. The fun cycle will follow bike tracks through the park, crossing Johnstown Road into Kilbogget Park and back by the same route for refreshments and free goodies. Each cyclist will get a free high-viz vest and stewards will also be on hand to help.

Sunday 16th June is also Father’s Day and there will be a free prize draw for all Dads taking part on the day.
