Clontarf

The historical suburb of Clontarf is located on Dublin's coast, just north of the city centre. The famous 'Battle of Clontarf' took place here in 1014, when Brian Boru defeated the Vikings.
The North Bull Island nature reserve is a haven of wildlife and is home to a number of protected birds species and some native Irish mammals. Dollymount Strand, a blue flag beach on the north of the island, is popular with swimmers, kite surfers and walkers.
St. Annes's Park, another leisure amenity in the area, is one of the largest parks in Dublin. Originally the estate of the famous Guinness family, the park has a magnificent rose garden and has many sporting facilities for tennis and football players. There are also a number of golf courses in the area.

The number 130 bus from the city centre services Clontarf. There is also a DART station in Clonrtarf.
