The War Memorial Gardens cover an area of the southern slopes of the Liffey opposite the Magazine Fort in the Phoenix Park.
The War Memorial was designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens as a garden of simple dignity commemorating the 49,000 Irish Soldiers who died in the First World War.
At either end are two pairs of Bookrooms in granite, which hold the names of those who died in World War I.
