Rathfarnham is located 7 km from Dublin’s city centre.
Rathfarnham is a historic village retaining all its old world charm. Rathfarnham Castle, a castle under restoration, was built in 1588 for Archbishop Adam Loftus and was one of the largest residences in Dublin, with no less than eighteen fireplaces. Much of the castle’s interior decoration, including eighteenth century plasterwork still survives. Also the Pearse Museum in St. Enda’s Park celebrates the life of one of modern Ireland’s founding fathers.
