Seapoint Martello Tower is a restored early nineteenth century Martello Tower that was originally built to defend Dublin from Napoleonic invasion.
Spectacularly located on the shore of Dublin Bay the tower houses an exhibition on the history of Dublin’s Martello Towers and guided tours are available during the summer months (opening times and admission prices currently not available) featuring access to the roof and its eighteen-pound cannon.
A visit will give you an insight into the history of these unique fortifications, their military use and the how these buildings have become iconic landmarks along Dublin’s coastline.
